the Legend of Billie JeanThere are some movies I am truly embarrassed to say I absolutely love and would and can watch, again and again. Guilt pleasure films are the best. Staying home on a week night, friday or saturday night to watch something as cheesy as My Girl because you actually want to is not something you can confess to just anyone. But hey. You’re reading this blog because you love film, so I am amongst friends. If not, stifle your laughter until you finish reading the entire post…at least.

Here are some of my favorite, embarrassing films:

  • Dirty Dancing – “Nobody puts Baby in the corner.” How could you not love it!
  • Mrs. Winterbourne -What can I say, Ricki Lake’s charming and Brendan Fraser’s a hottie.
  • My Girl – Come on, who wouldn’t cry in that funeral scene with Veda crying over Thomas. Are you made of stone!
  • Legends of the Fall – Way back when Brad Pitt was the shit, Aidan Quinn was a hottie and… whatever, it’s a somewhat hoky epic. I love hoky epics.
  • Hope Floats – There’s something about Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr and Southern accents that just get me.
  • Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion – There’s no rhyme or reason. I just love this film. Completely silly.
  • Girls Just want To have Fun - Sarah Jessica Parker before she was Sexy in the city. It’s Fame meets Dirty Dancing meets Pretty in Pink meets Hairspray…sort of.
  • The Legend of Billy Jean – “We cant afford to be innocent. Stand up and face the enemy. Its a do or die situation. We will be invincible!” This is a damned classic! One of my favorite all times films….really. Don’t judge!
  • Steel Magnolias – Again, I’ve a thing for Southern acting and chick flicks.
  • Fried Green Tomatoes – Buddy films and chick flicks are my favorites. Two for the price of one.
  • Demolition Man – Who’d a thunk it. There’s not logical explanation. It’s just a funny, silly film with Sylvester Stallone and Sandra Bullock.
  • Bring It On – Yeah, I know!
  • Home Alone – Regardless of how he is now, Culkin was a cute and entertaining kid in this movie.
  • The Brady Bunch Movie – What can I say?

This list can go on and on. Perhaps I’ll keep adding to it as I think of more. If you’ve got any to add, please chime in.
