Not sure what happened to Nicolas Cage since Leaving Las Vegas. It’s the curse of the Oscar winner. It seems when an up and comer wins an Oscar, their next films are blockbusters or just crap. Synopsis: One man (Cage) demonstrates how to get rich selling warring nations the tools of their deadly trade in this dark comedy drama. It’s neither comedic or as dark as it tries to be. Plus, I just couldn’t buy Cage as a New York Russian Jew with a brother that looked like Jared Leto. The directing was also quite awkward. Not really culminating at any point or saying much of anything. Or perhaps that was the writing.
Anyway, the whole love story angle was abit dramatic, contrived and just not interesting. I say, skip it!
