Back in the early 1990s, there was something potentially film historic about Al Pacino and Robert De Niro finally appearing in a movie together since Godfather II in which they didn’t even share screen space. Michael Mann’s 1995 Heat was somewhat satiating save for the cop out ending. But Righteous Kill starring the two once-upon-a-time-blockbuster-movie-megastars scheduled for release on September 12th this year may be too little too late especially with a director (John Avnet) not as skilled as Mann despite the writing credit of Russell Gewirtz who penned the surprisingly exceptional Inside Man.
