The A-Team Movie?
Tuesday, March 25th, 2008Who would have thunk it? Well, anyone in Hollywood really. If they can remake The Hulk twice in just about 5 years, why not a remake of the once popular, easily spoofable, 80s macho TV series starring Mr. T and about a bunch of ex-military men on the lamb for war crimes they didn’t commit. I think, if this film does finally get made in the next year or so (it’s been in the makes since at least 2002), it would be good timing given the current war climate. The plot potentials are a plenty…with the right writers and director.
No doubt if John Singleton directs this film it will not be as quality and interesting as it could be if say Michael Mann or Doug Liman directed it. Singleton’s not a deep director, not to say A-Team was much of a deep tv series, but a remake does have the potential to make millions, have substance and have some smart humor and kick arse action sequences rather than being your standard atypical action packed, predictable piece of rehashed nonsense I do expect it to be. But hey, I am open to being surprised. Like, ‘Surprise, Liman, not Singleton will be directing The A-Team’. Wishful thinking…I know.
Anyway, the rumor mills are buzzing with who will possibly play the rag tag bunch of ex-military criminals. Ice Cube wants in as the mohawk touting B.A. Baracus. Singleton wants Woody Harrelson for the “Howling Mad” Murdock character. But who will play Hannibal and the Faceman? Hollywood’s a buzzin’…listen….
Anyway, read more about the pending A-Team movie at Rotten Tomatoes.
